Build Your Future Grant Relaunches for Fall Semester
Marketing & Communications Dept.
Blue Ridge Community College announced today the relaunch of the Build Your Future Grant for the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Originally created to help students rebuild or advance their careers following the immediate impact of Hurricane Helene, the program will once again cover needed tuition for education and workforce training.
The grant is open to Blue Ridge students pursuing traditional diplomas or associate degrees and those enrolled in short-term Workforce Continuing Education courses. By removing financial barriers, the program provides a pathway to new skills and long-term career growth for those continuing to recover from the storm.
“We are proud to relaunch this important support for students as they look ahead and pursue new opportunities after Hurricane Helene,” said Dr. Laura B. Leatherwood, president of Blue Ridge Community College. “Although nearly a year has passed since the storm, families and workers in Western North Carolina are still navigating its lasting effects. At Blue Ridge, we are dedicated to developing our regional workforce, and our hope is that this grant will empower students to advance their education, strengthen their careers, and build a brighter future for themselves and their communities.”
Made possible by state funds totaling about $233k secured by the North Carolina Community College System, the Build Your Future Grant covers tuition for most workforce-focused programs at Blue Ridge Community College during the Fall 2025 and Spring 2026 semesters. Students currently enrolled for the fall semester may also apply for the grant to help cover any remaining unpaid tuition, and the grant can also apply to Late Start Classes starting Aug. 27 and Short Courses beginning Oct. 13. Registration for the spring semester starts Oct. 1.
