In 2024, Pamela Fish reached a turning point in her life and decided to go back to school after several years in the workforce. After a long career in various areas of the healthcare field, Fish chose to pivot to Medical Office Administration.
“I wanted to strengthen my skills, update my knowledge, and open new doors for my career in healthcare,” Fish said. “The Medical Office Administration program connects my strengths in organization, communication, and patient care. This allowed me to build on my experience while gaining the technical and administrative skills needed to grow professionally.”
Fish said she chose Blue Ridge because of its flexibility, support, and high‑quality instruction.
“I was nervous about going back to school, especially with how much technology and online learning had changed, but Blue Ridge felt approachable and encouraging,” Fish said. “The programs aligned with my career goals, and the environment made it feel possible to succeed even while juggling work, family, and life. The program was the right blend of practical training and career advancement.”
Through Blue Ridge, Fish said she has gained confidence, new skills, and a renewed sense of purpose. Furthermore, the experience helped expand her horizons and push her out of her comfort zone in a positive way.
“The first step is the hardest, but once you begin, you’ll be amazed at what you’re capable of. For anyone thinking about going back to school, it’s never too late to invest in yourself,” Fish said. “Blue Ridge offers everything a student needs to succeed, even if you’re balancing work, family, or starting over. If you’re willing to show up and put in the effort, the experience can truly change your life.”
After graduation, Fish plans to continue growing in the healthcare administration field and pursue further education or certifications. Her long-term goal is to move into a leadership role and continue contributing to a positive healthcare environment.
