Supporting education was a “blast” at the annual Sporting Clays Tournament hosted by the Blue Ridge Community College Educational Foundation. The Oct. 28 event was held at the Cleghorn Gun Club in Rutherfordton and raised over $17,000. It brought together College partners and donors who share a desire to expand educational opportunities through Blue Ridge.
Following the event, Vice President for Advancement Lisa Adkins expressed her gratitude to those who invested in education through their love of marksmanship.

“It was a perfect day to show support for Blue Ridge Community College’s Educational Foundation, which ultimately impacts our students, staff and faculty throughout the year,” she said. “I am so grateful to our sponsors, volunteers and participants who made today’s Sporting Clays Tournament such a huge success.”
A total of fifteen teams competed to safely hit airborne clay targets with rifle rounds. Horizon Heating & Air Conditioning’s team took first place, followed by Image 420 in second place and Pepsi-Cola Bottling Company of Asheville in third. The best overall individual score was earned by Wiley Kessler of Image 420, who scored 96 out of 100.
